May We Introduce Ourselves?
Members of the church of Christ live and worship in thousands of
communities throughout the world. No, we are not a denomination! It is
our desire and purpose to be simply Christians or members of the "body of
Christ" - the Church of Christ, 1 Corinthians. 12:12; Ephesians 1:22-23;
Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 4:4.
We advocate unity among all who truly desire to serve the Lord, as Jesus
prayed and the apostles pleaded, John 17:20-21; 1 Corinthians 1:10;
Ephesians 4:1-6.
We subscribe to one creed, stand upon one foundation and recognize but
one head, even Christ Jesus, Acts 4:11-12; Galatians 2:20; 1 Corinthians
3:11; Ephesians 1:22.
We are governed by one rule-book - the Bible. While recognizing and
heeding the guiding principles of the Old Testament, we seek to conform
to the rules and patterns of the New Testament, 1 Corinthians 10:11; 2
Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Peter 4:11.
Our worship services are simple, spiritual and orderly, keynoted by the
words of Jesus who said, "true worshipers shall worship the Father in
spirit and truth," John 4:23-24. We generally engage in singing, prayer,
teaching and preaching. "Upon the first day of the week" (Sunday) we
observe the "Lord's Supper," 1 Corinthians 11:20, 23-26; Acts 20:7.
Likewise, our members make their freewill contribution on the "first day
of every week." Each member gives in keeping with his purpose and
prosperity. No contributions are solicited at any other time. Our work
is solely sustained by these offerings, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2
Corinthians 9:6-7; 1 Corinthians 9:14; 2 Corinthians 11:8.
We invite all who appreciate our aims to get acquainted and study with
us. When you visit the services of the North Loop Church of Christ, you
will be cordially welcomed and treated kindly and courteously.
